Story PhotoPrescott, Ariz.-based Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) has received an unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) training and simulation classroom from Simlat, an Israel-based provider of next-generation training solutions for drone operators.

Simlat says its ISR Multi-Purpose Advanced Class Training (IMPACT) classroom is ideal for academic UAS programs and training centers.

The IMPACT simulation goes beyond basic training and supports several specific commercial UAS applications, such as utility inspections, offshore work, mining, agriculture and more. Simlat supports over 80 UAS programs and training centers in 30 countries.

Focusing on commercial and civil drone applications, the UAS degree at ERAU gives students a broad understanding about business, aviation regulations, technology, meteorology and security associated with the UAS industry. All students in the UAS program become trained and licensed UAS operators by ERAU UAS flight instructors and earn a remote pilot in command certificate.

ERAU's UAS program is working with Simlat and several other partners to enable its students to obtain hands-on experience in UAS missions.
